Why Choose Mirena at Healthy Futures Primary Care?

At Healthy Futures, our skilled team ensures that your experience with Mirena is comfortable, personalized, and backed by evidence-based care.

We understand that every patient is unique. That’s why we offer comprehensive counseling on all contraceptive options, including the Mirena IUD, empowering you to make confident, informed decisions. Key Benefits of Mirena

  • Quickly reversible—fertility typically returns within weeks of removal
  • Over 99% effectiveness, making it one of the most reliable options available

At Healthy Futures, we also prioritize your comfort. We offer the option for IV sedation during your IUD insertion, helping to minimize discomfort and anxiety. Our team will discuss whether this is the right choice for you during your consultation.

Your Mirena Experience: Personalized and Supportive

Our process is designed to ensure you feel supported every step of the way. Here’s what you can expect when you choose Healthy Futures Primary Care for your Mirena placement:

  3. Insertion: Your Mirena IUD is placed during a brief office visit. Our experienced team follows best practices to ensure a safe and effective placement.
  4. Follow-Up: We’ll schedule a check-in to make sure everything is working well and you’re satisfied with your choice. Our team is always available to answer questions or provide support.

Mirena: More Than Just Birth Control

Mirena isn’t only about preventing pregnancy. Many patients in Colorado choose Mirena to help manage heavy menstrual bleeding and reduce period pain. Because the device releases a steady, low dose of hormone directly inside the uterus, it can make periods lighter or even stop them altogether for some women. This can mean fewer days of missed work or school and improved quality of life.

If you’re dealing with difficult periods or simply want a low-maintenance solution, ask our team how Mirena might help you achieve better overall wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mirena

How does Mirena work, and how effective is it?
Mirena is a T-shaped IUD that releases a small amount of levonorgestrel, a progestin hormone, directly into the uterus. This prevents pregnancy by thickening cervical mucus, thinning the uterine lining, and often suppressing ovulation. Mirena is over 99% effective.

Is the insertion of Mirena painful?
Most patients experience only mild discomfort during IUD insertion, similar to menstrual cramps. At Healthy Futures, we offer IV sedation for those who want additional comfort during the procedure. Our team will help you decide if this option is right for you.

Can Mirena help with heavy periods?
Yes, Mirena is FDA-approved to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women who choose intrauterine contraception. Many women notice lighter periods, and some stop having periods entirely while using Mirena.

Can I get pregnant after Mirena is removed?
Fertility typically returns quickly after Mirena removal. Most women are able to conceive within a few months, making it a highly reversible form of birth control.
